Research Mentor
Job Description:
Rising Researchers is seeking a Researcher Mentor to lead small cohort research classes and summer camps for high school students throughout the year. This role is ideal for a PhD student, researcher, or academic professional who is passionate about mentorship, research education, and helping students develop advanced academic skills.
Research Mentors function similarly to college-level instructors and are responsible for designing and leading research-focused classes in their area of expertise. Responsibilities include creating the course syllabus, developing lesson plans and assignments, teaching live virtual sessions, assigning and reviewing homework, guiding students through the research process, and supporting students as they develop advanced-level research projects.
Research topics may vary by mentor expertise. Classes are held virtually through small cohort formats to allow for individualized support and mentorship.
Requirements
- Current PhD student, PhD holder, or postdoctoral researcher
- Experience designing and teaching a research-based course, seminar, or academic program
- Strong familiarity with academic research methods and publication standards
- Must check email daily and respond in a timely manner to student questions, assignments, and requests
Key Details:
- We are fully remote and work with students in all time zones.
- Nights/weekend availability is required.
- Success in this role requires timely email communication, strong follow-up skills, and calendar management.
